Materials for 3D printers – professional support in selection
Choosing the right material in 3D printing is very important, as the raw material determines the properties, strength and appearance of the final print, turning a digital design into a functional object. At CadXpert, we understand that the wide range of options available – from thermoplastics to liquid resins to powdered polyamides and metals – can be overwhelming. That’s why, in addition to more than 80 professional materials, we also offer full support from our experts to help you find the right solution for your application.
Why choose 3D printing materials from CadXpert’s range?
As leaders in the 3D printing industry, we provide access to a carefully selected range of materials to meet the most stringent industrial requirements.
- Wide range: You gain access to more than 80 materials and multiple 3D printing technologies, including FDM, SAF, SLA, SLS or PolyJet. Whatever your project, we have the plastic for you.
- Specialized features: Do you need a part that is waterproof, chemical resistant, heat resistant or has ESD properties? How about a material with biocompatibility or fire resistance certification? We will match the right product to your needs.
- Expertise and advice: our team of specialists will help you not only choose your material, but also optimize your printing process so you can realize the full potential of your technology and calculate your return on investment.
A guide to 3D printing materials
Thermoplastic Films (FDM)
The most popular group of materials, used in FDM technology. It offers an excellent price/quality ratio.
- PLA: Ideal for rapid prototyping, conceptual models and architectural mock-ups. Easy to print and available in a wide range of colors.
- ABS: High mechanical and thermal strength. Works well in the production of functional parts and housings, being a material also used in conventional manufacturing.
- PETG and ASA: PETG combines the ease of PLA printing with the durability of ABS, while ASA additionally offers UV resistance, making it ideal for outdoor applications.
- Nylon and composites: For the most demanding applications, we offer special materials that can replace metal parts. Plastics such as carbon-fiber-reinforced nylon feature extreme strength at low weight, which is crucial in automotive applications, for example.
- High Performance Materials (PEI, PEKK): Certified flammability, resistant to chemicals, lubricants and fuels. Indispensable in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Photopolymer resins (SLA, PolyJet)
They feature unparalleled precision and surface smoothness. Ideal for creating highly detailed models, prototypes and tools.
- Standard and engineering: A wide range of resins with properties similar to plastics like ABS or polypropylene.
- Biocompatible: materials certified for skin or tissue contact, used in medicine and dentistry to produce, for example, surgical templates.
- Multi-material and multi-color (PolyJet): A unique technology that allows different materials (e.g., hard and flexible) and colors to be combined in a single print, which is ideal for realistic prototypes.
Polyamide powders (SLS, SAF)
Powder technologies make it possible to create robust parts with complex geometries without the need for support structures.
- Nylon (PA11, PA12): Extremely durable and impact resistant, excellent for manufacturing functional end parts, housings and tools.
Metal powders (DMLS/SLM)
3D metal printing allows the production of fully functional metal components with strength comparable to or exceeding parts made by traditional methods.
- Metallic Alloys: We offer a 3D printing service for stainless steel, titanium, aluminum and other alloys, enabling the production of lightweight yet durable parts with complex geometries not possible with CNC machining.
Not sure which 3D printer material to choose?
Compatibility of the material with the 3D printer and its adaptation to a specific application ensures that the desired effect is achieved. However, you don’t have to be an expert in this matter, take advantage of the knowledge of our specialists. Consult the implementation – our consultants will analyze your needs and select the optimal solution that will ensure the highest quality and return on investment in 3D printing.
